JUST PADEL
Studio FRI is proud to announce that full planning and advertisement consent has been successfully granted for our clients, Just Padel, to convert the former Office Outlet on Corporation Street, Preston, into Lancashire’s first indoor padel tennis facility and café.
This landmark project represents a major step in revitalising a previously disused retail space, bringing a vibrant and dynamic leisure facility to the heart of Preston. As a studio committed to delivering impactful, community-focused designs, we are thrilled to be part of a development that will not only provide a new sporting venue but also contribute to the broader regeneration efforts within the city.
From the outset, Studio FRI employed the latest technology to ensure the accuracy of the design and planning stages. We began with an advanced point cloud scan of the existing unit, producing a highly precise and detailed representation of the building’s condition. This data provided the foundation for developing comprehensive existing plans and tailored proposals that aligned with our client’s vision while adhering to all planning and design regulations.
As specialists in adaptive reuse, we leveraged our experience and expertise to propose a solution that harmonised the client’s needs with Preston's broader urban regeneration strategy. Every step was taken to ensure the design was functional, sustainable, and innovative, while remaining sensitive to the character and context of the existing site.
Padel is one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, blending the best elements of tennis and squash. Played on a smaller, enclosed court, the sport is fast-paced, social, and accessible to all skill levels. With its emphasis on inclusivity, padel is particularly appealing to people of all ages, making it an excellent addition to Preston’s leisure offerings. The facility will provide a new sporting hub for the local community, fostering social connections and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
The conversion of the former Office Outlet unit into an indoor padel facility is a prime example of Studio FRI’s dedication to delivering bespoke, community-driven architectural solutions. Through our expertise in design, planning, and sustainable development, we ensured that the project not only met the client's needs but also aligned with the community’s broader vision for regeneration.
The building’s conversion provides a perfect example of how adaptive reuse can breathe new life into vacant spaces, offering exciting opportunities for local communities. From the initial concept to the submission of the planning and advertisement consent applications, Studio FRI was there every step of the way, guiding our clients and ensuring the development’s success.
